In II Corinthians 9:11 (NIV), God tells us that the person who sows generously "will be made rich in every way, so that you can be generous on every occasion." This tells us that God wants His people to be generous and to prosper. LISTEN TO How many times have we heard the statement, "Christians shouldn't have a lot of money"? Prosperity is a matter of great controversy among Christians. Does God want Christians to prosper? Obviously, there is a potential for abuse in the area of prosperity teaching, as with any other subject found in the Bible. Unfortunately, however, in regard to Christians and money, the error is usually on the side of poverty, rather than prosperity. Many Christians feel that in order for them to live a Godly life, they must live a life of poverty and lack.
